Unfortunately, he couldn't sleep forever.

Also unfortunately, he couldn't stay upstairs forever. Well, he could, Mayu would see to it that he didn't starve or anything - not that he's had much of an appetite - but it still wouldn't be a workable longterm solution.

So, eventually, Morishige emerges from their room and makes his way downstairs. Mayu accompanies him, but goes in her own direction once they're in the bar proper. She does, however, stay where they can see each other.

That has a lot to do with the fact that he manages to stay downstairs, and even to accept the meal Bar immediately offers up as soon as he's close enough. He murmurs his thanks and chooses somewhere quiet to sit.

Milliways is less of a surprise the second time. He's been half-expecting it with every door he's opened, a quiet mix of dread and anticipation in the back of his mind.

He's also tried to erase it, throwing himself into his existence at Heavenly Host - drawing on his acting experience to play bait for fresh victims, watching the shock dawn on them once he's led them right to Sachiko or Yanagihori or the children, or when he doesn't act to stop Kizami; taking his pictures and joining Sachiko in her beloved playroom; and, most recently, stealing moments with Kizami when Sachiko, who is after all a seven-year-old at heart, isn't around to make horrified faces at them.

(He still thinks of Mayu and of Kishinuma when Kizami's hands are on him, but he's learning how to filter out the feelings that come with them.)

But when Milliways does show up again, he doesn't close the door as he probably ought to do. Instead, he steps through without hesitation.

Maybe he'll stay a little longer, this time.
